Other men and women at Life Links Church serve in various positions of leadership. Each of them makes a vital contribution to our church by bringing vision and initiative to specific of areas of church life.
We often refer to them as Deacons, a term derived directly from the Bible. The following men and women serve in a leadership capacity, generously donating their time and talents for the benefit of our church as well as the wider community of Ararat:
Alli Llewellyn
Alli is our Hospitality & Special Events Coordinator. She has a Masters Degree in counselling, and is an experienced group leader, trainer and teacher. Alli has run community workshops on a variety of topics, including life skills, parenting, and more. At Ararat Church of Christ, her responsibilities include planning and coordinating church events ranging from special dinners to church picnics. She is married to the best-looking pastor in Victoria.
Martie Peter
Martie is our Worship Director. Married to one of our elders, Michael, they have two children. She has an Honours Degree in Marketing Management and used to be a store manager for a well-known fashion retail store in her original country, South Africa. She and Michael are currently franchisees at SpecSavers at both Stawell and Horsham. She also teaches CRE at one of the local primary schools and loves how the kids can't wait to hear her next lesson about Jesus and how awesome He is. Martie enjoys singing and plays guitar. As Worship Director, she loves to worship and lead others into worship too.
Kara Bartlett
Kara is our Discovery Deacon. Married is to Bruce, our Church Secretary, and together they have four children. Running the Sunday School program for our church, Kara is passionate about raising children in Christ, in making learning about Jesus fun, and coming to church a great experience for them! Discovery caters for children up to around twelve years old.
Etienne van Straaten
Etienne is married to his wife, Christine, and they have three beautiful children. They immigrated from South Africa a few years ago. Etienne is a qualified Diesel Technician and is currently working as a maintenance manager on a farm. Althought not officially a deacon at Life Links, Etienne works tirelessly as the leader of our Sound & Vision team. He is committed to serving God and has a demonstrated track record of integrity.
